[W]e do not want Scientology to be reported in the press, anywhere else than on the religious page of newspapers. Commentaries

If you oppose Scientology we promptly look up—and will find and expose your crimes. If you leave us alone we will leave you alone. It's very simple. Even a fool can grasp that. And don't underrate our ability to carry it out. — L. Ron Hubbard, "Critics of Scientology", HCOB of 5 November 1967.

Xenu TV (April 17, 2008): Mark Bunker's Youtube account pulled, again (updated)

Update, April 21, 2008: Mark Bunker posted the long version of Jason Beghe interview to his blog. Here is the whole version, although small, low-bandwidth (download):
   Mark Bunker of Xenu TV presents: Jason Beghe

"There is a moment where you just feel a loss. [...] It's a regret of having invested so much in something that is empty. [...] It's a con. It's a con. [...] I don't have an agenda. [...] I'm trying to help." — Jason Beghe

Here is a list of news items related to the full interview of Jason Beghe — I will update as fresh news articles come out:

Mark Bunker's Youtube account has been suspended for the second time.

This happened just shortly after Tory "Magoo" Christman's account was also suspended by Youtube, and shortly before Mark Bunker was poised to post the long version of Jason Beghe’s interview. For good measure, here is the teaser Youtube video featuring celebrity Jason Beghe's public disavowal of Scientology, along with Mark Bunker's comment about the current event:

Mark Bunker comments on his account cancellation

There is currently a strong protest to the removal of Mark Bunker's Youtube account (as there was with Tory Christman's account removal). Here is where the action is:

Let's see what comes out of all that.

Radar (March 17, 2008): "Cult Friction" by John Cook

Youtube (March 15, 2008): Ex-Scientologist share story about the suicide of her dad

Ex-Scientologist shares her story with March 15 protesters, talk about the suicide of her father, and her views that the Church of Scientology is responsible for this tragedy. This is a heart wrenching story, and from watching it, anybody will understand why so many people oppose the Church of Scientology.

Gerry Armstrong (March 14, 2008): "Letter to David Miscavige on L. Ron Hubbard's birthday"

An excellent must-read letter from Gerry Armstrong, to Church of Scientology boss David Miscavige, on why people oppose the Church of Scientology, and five steps on how to start fixing it:
  1. Release everyone from any restraint, whether legal, financial, social, mental or spiritual, that prohibits them from speaking freely about their experiences and knowledge of any kind;
  2. Repudiate the "Suppressive Person" (SP) doctrine;
  3. Pay reparations to everyone harmed in any way by Scientology's or Scientologists' or their agents' application of the SP doctrine;
  4. Pay back Scientology's fraud victims;
  5. Tell the truth;

I particularly appreciate the final part of Gerry Armstrong's letter:

These five goals are terribly simple and easily achievable. Good, non-sociopathic organizations and people everywhere already and naturally do these things, and don't require people protesting, masked or not, to force them or embarrass them into doing these simple and easy things. No wog, anonymous or not, is preventing any Scientologist from speaking freely about their experiences or knowledge. It is the Scientologists, who will commit immoral, criminal acts to suppress and destroy good people's and good organizations' basic human rights. Astonishingly, the only real impediment is you, and the only real reason for your intransigence is your common sociopathy.

This is the kind of letter I would hope to see in a major newspaper, as it eloquently and concisely make the point as to why good people oppose the Church of Scientology.

Kendra Wiseman and Astra Woodcraft on radio (updated)

On January 26, 2008, Barbara Graham posted the following to ARS:
There was a highly intelligent, extremely humorous young woman who had a couple of nyms. Emma Goldman was one. She was the daughter of a high ranking family of Scientologists, going to school in Beijing. This is long enough ago that presumably she's graduated from that, but she had a rebellious streak that made her think she could post here if she felt like it. Her family put the hammer down and made it clear to her that, if she continued in that direction, they would disconnect and leave her stranded in China. [If] she complied, they would continue to fund her schooling.

Alas, she capitulated, yanked all her email accounts, and disappeared. I hope that rebellious streak she had still lives. I'd love to hear from her again, we has some extremely entertaining exchanges on the web.

I wish her the best of everything.

Barbara Graham wishes have been granted, as Kendra Wiseman started to speak out publicly since then, and created a new web site, Ex-Scientology Kids, along with Astra Woodcraft and Jenna Hill Miscavige.

Even more, on March 4, 2008, Kendra was interviewed yesterday on Los Angeles' KFI 640 AM on the Bryan Suits Show. Listen to the interview here:

Three Two radio shows in four days, and all very well spoken. Quite a start for Ex-Scientology Kids!

There is a section on Ex-Scn Kids Forums where you will find all news coverage of Astra, Kendra and Jenna's Ex-Scientology Kids.

You got that right, "Nick"

From time to time, I take a little bit of time to work on old materials on Scientology, as I believe all historical archives regarding Scientology should find its way online. This week, I spent time to web and read proof OCR scans of a portion of the transcript of the City of Clearwater Commission Hearing: The Church of Scientology, more precisely, page 89 to 141, which concern Rosie Pace's testimony on day three of the hearings. Rosie Pace was a staff member of the Church of Scientology.

Rosie Pace's testimony covers many issues concerning Scientology: the misrepresentation of L. Ron Hubbard's background (page 3-126); the poor living condition of staff members (page 3-131); the vilification of formal education (page 3-91, 3-125); the Scientology doctrine of "Fair game" (page 3-106).

A passage of her testimony stood out for me, as she related that even though she became very unhappy about her life within the Church of Scientology, she was simply unable to leave (page 3-101):

MRS. GARVEY: [...] Why did you leave, finally?

MS. PACE: Because I hated it. I wanted to die while I was there. I was hoping — and this is the truth — I was hoping that when I went to the doctor that he would tell me I had cancer. And that — that way, I could get out, because, mentally, I could not leave Flag Land Base unless I was dying. [...] I was a nervous wreck; I was shaking, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat. I lost twenty pounds. I was miserable and unhappy, and I couldn't walk out the door. I thought I couldn't walk out the door.

These sure are heart wrenching words. And then I reminded myself of this great insight from one Anonymous, referred as "Nick" in a news article titled "Anonymous: Inside the war on Scientology," which ran at Nouse York University:

[It’s] going to take years to get down to the nitty-gritty; the people who really need help, the people whose lives have been completely destroyed by Scientology. There are people so deep within the cult that they cannot get out at all. They're the people that we really need to get to.

You got that right "Nick." I don't know where is Rosie Pace today, but I can imagine that this would warm her heart to see people taking a (Ghandi) stand for those inside, like she used to be.

About this web site

The evidence presented to the court shows brazen criminal campaigns against private and public organizations and individuals. The Scientology officials hid behind claims of religious liberty while inflicting injuries upon every element of society. — Raymond Banoun, Assistant U.S. Attorney [ref]

Dull excuse for any improper English found on this site: English is not my first language, and I actually learned it late in life.

This site is dedicated to all the people that have worked to expose the Church of Scientology, especially the ones that stood up against it before the Internet became widespread. Some have paid dearly in standing up to expose Scientology (just ask Paulette Cooper.)

In March 2002, I became interested in Scientology when the Church of Scientology attempted to have links to xenu.net removed from Google listing (see this ZDNet article.) I wondered, "Hmm... What is it that Scientology doesn't want me to see?" I read a lot, enough to see the hidden face of Scientology, which is not pretty.

Consider the Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

It annoyed me highly that by removing links to critical information about Scientology from Google and from the internet, the Church of Scientology was stifling my right to have an informed opinion about Scientology. With this March 2002 event, I actually learned that the Church of Scientology has a very long history of trying to conceal factual information which it perceives to be damaging to Scientology. This site is my modest contribution to be sure that people seeking information about Scientology will also be able to see the other side, the one the Church of Scientology is trying to conceal.

Important note: This site contains a lot of materials from people who have stood up, one way or another, to expose the Church of Scientology. It used to be a very risky endeavour to talk openly about the hidden face of Scientology and that of its founder Hubbard. I still learn more about this regularly. Whether or not they have been shuddered into silence, the ones that stood up at one time or another long before I decided to do my bit are the ones deserving all our respects and admirations, these are the ones to be thanked — without them, there wouldn't be anything to web. Hubbard and his organizations were very well aware of that fact (hence Snow White). Scientology organizations are still very well aware of that fact.
